The City of Storm Lake has issued a Request For Qualifications (RFQ) for engineering design services for construction of a new water treatment plant.
The City intends to use the selected firm to lead all phases of the evaluation, study, and design to bid and build the municipal drinking water treatment facility, including construction administration.
Proposals are to be submitted to the City Clerk’s office not later than 3 p.m. Friday, April 3.
Proposals will then be reviewed, and interviews conducted if needed. The City Council will make the determination of a firm for the project.
The full RFQ can be found on the City website at www.stormlake.org. Questions from prospective firms on the RFQ process can be directed to the City Manager by email at navratil@stormlake.org.
Steady growth in population and water demand have made it necessary to replace the existing water treatment plant, first constructed in 1978 with upgrades in 2002, 20024 and 2014. A preliminary engineering report recommends that the City construct an 8.8 million gallon per day facility to meet current and future needs.
