The Storm Lake Public Library will be providing a dedicated Community Resource Worker to assist patrons with locating needed services.
Working with the Buena Vista University social work program, the library has arranged for a student intern to serve on site, Mondays from 2-4 p.m. There is no charge for the service, and no appointments are necessary. Patrons will be assisted on a walk-in basis.
The Community Resource Worker can assist the public with accessing food benefits, housing, medical and mental health providers, employment services and other programs; and can also assist in filling out forms. The intern will also help to maintain a current directory of community resources.
The program will be located out of the telecommunications room at the library, which allows for private consultation and computer access.
The Community Resource Worker program follows a Buena Vista County Navigators program, which previously provided similar services.
