Boards and commissions play an important role in city government. Service on a board or commission is an excellent way for residents to become involved in the community and contribute to the quality of life in Storm Lake. The City actively seeks applicants with diverse backgrounds, life experiences, and perspectives. The City Council is committed to diversity and inclusion through board recruitment and appointments so that residents of varied backgrounds are represented and have the opportunity to provide input.
How to Join a City Board or Commission
Applications may be submitted at any time. If an opening is available the City Clerk will contact the applicant to confirm their interest in the open position.

Board Appointments
Appointments to city boards and commissions are made by the mayor of Storm Lake and are confirmed by the Council. Members serve three-year terms, unless otherwise stated.
Attend a Meeting
Interested residents are welcome to attend any board or commission meeting to learn more about their role in city government.
