Hydrant Flushing Program

Hydrant Flushing Schedule

The City of Storm Lake conducts their annual hydrant flushing program starting end of April.

This flushing program is part of the annual servicing program in which City staff conducts tests on fire hydrants throughout the community to ensure that they operate effectively and also to move water through the distribution system.

Flushing will occur between the hours of 6 AM and 3:30 PM daily with the exception for the  downtown area, those hydrants will be flushed in the early morning hours.

During the flushing process, the City of Storm Lake recommends that customers check their water supply in the morning from the COLD water supply nearest their water meter and if they notice discoloration or odor to flush their household system for five to seven minutes from that COLD water faucet nearest the water meter.

Should the discoloration or odor continue they can contact the City of Storm Lake at 712-732-8020 and provide their location and the time they noticed the discoloration odor.

For additional information on this topic contact the City of Storm Lake by phone at 712-732-8020.

The City will continue to update customers on additional flushes through our Press Release. Sign up at www.stormlake.org/notifyme
