Recycling in Storm Lake
You can recycle the following items in Storm Lake and Buena Vista County:
  • Glass - bottles and jars
  • Paper - any kind of paper including colors, magazines, junk mail, newspapers as long as it tears they can recycle it
  • Cardboard - Cardboard boxes are recyclable - please break them down to conserve space
  • Plastics - plastic containers and cases are recyclable (toys are not)

Please rinse out all items prior to putting them out for collection.  Recyclable items must be seperated from garbage and placed in clear see through bags to be collected weekly through the collection company.  You do NOT need to seperate the different types of recyclables.

Other Types of Recycling

Along with the above there are other things that can be reused and recycled in Storm Lake including:

Yard Debris - Tree limbs, branches, grass, and brush can all be recycled into mulch through the Harold Rawley Recycle Center.  Residents must bring the yard waste to the recycle center during normal business hours - drop off of these items is free for Buena Vista County Residents.

****For 2012 the Harold Rawley Recycle Center will be open during the following special hours for yard debris drop off:

     Monday Nights from 4:00PM to 7:00PM
     Wednesday Nights from 4:00PM to 7:00PM
     Saturdays from 9:00AM to 3:00PM

Tires - Many local tire companies will recycle your used tires for a minimal fee. Please contact a local vendor for more information
