Garbage Recycling Rules Change
September 1st
To
comply with State of Iowa mandates and encourage more recycling the City of
Storm Lake will institute new requirements for residential garbage collection
effective September 1, 2004. The local garbage hauling company, Sunshine
Services, will be required to comply with and enforce the new regulations.
Sunshine
Services will continue their two pick-up days per week. One pick up day for
garbage and the other pick up day will be restricted to recyclables only.
Garbage

Garbage
will be limited to three 33 gallon containers per week and may be in any color
plastic bag.

Each
bag/container must not exceed 25 pounds.
·
An
additional fee will be charged by the garbage hauling service if the amount of
garbage exceeds three 33 gallon containers or 75 pounds.
Recyclables
Pick-Up Day .

will be picked up on Monday or Friday depending on your route

must be in see-through plastic bags or containers (hauler must be able to see
that all item are recyclables)

are limited to the items allowed by the Buena Vista County Recycling Center (see
list below).
