I have a tree in my yard that needs to be trimmed, will the City trim the tree or cut it down?

The City of Storm Lake will trim or cut down dead trees in the City right-of-way only.  Persons interested in having the city remove or trim a tree in the City right-of-way must complete a tree removal form available at City Hall, 620 Erie Street.  City crews will not remove or trim trees on private property.

I received a traffic ticket, where do I go to pay the ticket?

All traffic fines including speeding tickets, parking fines and white summons are to be paid to the Clerk of Court at the Buena Vista County Court House (phone number 712-749-2546).

I need to get my driver's license renewed (or a new license) where do I go and what are the hours they are open?

The Storm Lake Driver's License Station is located in the Buena Vista County Courthouse at 5th & Erie Street.  The Station is open Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information call 712-749-2571.

Why do I owe money on my Utility Bill when I didn't use any water last month?

The City of Storm Lake charges a minimum charge on their utility bills.  This charge covers the cost of service to the property and tax.   To prevent a minimum charge on your Utility Account you may have your water shut off; however, there is fee of $50.00 plus $3.00 tax  to disconnect service.  The disconnect fee also includes turning the service back on.

A copy of the budget is located at City Hall (620 Erie Street) or the Storm Lake Public Library (609 Cayuga Street).
