Box 1086, Storm Lake, Iowa 50588. The city is currently accepting applications for the following positions:
Dredge Deckhand
The Dredge Deckhand is a full time seasonal (April - November) position. The position requires knowledge of mechanical operations, experience operating heavy equipment and electrical maintenance and repair. Deckhands are responsible for the operation and maintenance of Jon Boats, cabling, pipelines, and winches as part of the dredging operation. Both morning and afternoon shifts are available with potential for overtime. Applications can be obtained from Storm Lake City Hall.
Firefighters
The Storm Lake Fire Department is accepting applications for Volunteer Paid - On - Call Fire Fighters. Applicants must reside within a 3 mile radius of the Storm Lake Public Safety Office. Minimum entry requirements include; Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalency certificate meeting the core requirements required by the State of Iowa. Ability to read, write and speak the English language. Be an owner / operator of an automobile with proper certificate of insurance. Possess or be eligible to receive a valid Iowa driver’s license. Be willing and able to attend mandatory weekly training every Tuesday evening. Applications and entrance requirements may be picked up at The Storm Lake Police Department, The Storm Lake Fire Department, and Storm Lake City Hall. Application deadline is December 3, 2005.

Administrative Intern
The City of Storm Lake has an opening for a spring/fall semester intern to work in the administrative and financial functions of city government. Internships with the City of Storm Lake are NOT paid positions.
The ideal candidate will be self motivated, outgoing, able to deal with multiple tasks, have a public administration and/or accounting major.
Past interns have completed projects including, inventory control, grant writing/researching, public relations and budgeting.
