On-line Auction Rules

The following rules apply to all On-Line Auctions unless otherwise stated in specific auction advertisement.

  1. All items are sold "As Is", and while the City tries to give the best description available, it is strongly suggested that potential bidders view the items personally. 

  2. The City of Storm Lake reserves the right to reject any and all bids at any time during the auction.

  3. Winning bidders will be notified by phone on Friday, November 18, 2005.

  4. Sold items must be removed from City property 5:00PM on November 30, 2005. Please follow the claim procedures listed below.

  5. Payment must be received before property can be removed.

  6. Payment accepted by Cash or Check only.

  7. Please make checks payable to the City of Storm Lake.  Any checks returned for Insufficient funds will be charged an additional $25.00 on top of the top bid and payment will only be accepted in cash.

  8. Bids for Seal-Bid Auctions must be sealed in a non see through envelope with the name of the auction item and bidder clearly written on the outside.

  9. Bids must include the following information: Name of bidder, Address of bidder, daytime phone number for bidder, Bid item number (as assigned by the City of Storm Lake), Item description, bid amount, and signed by the bidder.  for Dutch auction items the bid must include the price in a per unit cost and must include the number of units the bidder is wishing to purchase.  Depending on the number of bids and the amount of bids it is possible that bidders wishing to purchase more than one Dutch auction item will be limited by the number of items available.

  10. Multiple bids from a single bidder will be considered multiple bids and the highest bid will be considered the official bid for that bidder.

  11. Bidders who wish to bid on more than one item are asked to submit each bid in a separate envelope.

  13. All vehicles sold will have the logo and stripes removed prior to sale and if paid by check will require the check to clear the bank prior to the title of the vehicle being turned over to the purchaser.

  14. Bids should be turned in at City Hall, 620 Erie Street, Storm Lake, Iowa 50588 prior to 12:00PM CST on Friday, November 28, 2005.

  15. Bids can also be mailed to the City of Storm Lake, PO Box 1086, Storm Lake IA 50588.  Mailed bids must be marked to the ATTENTION of Mike Wilson and all bids should be in a non see through envelope, marked in accordance with the above rules, inside the main form of packaging.  The City of Storm Lake is not responsible for lost, late, or misdirected mail.

  16. All winning bidders will be required to sign a waiver form indicating that they accept the terms of the auction and understand that they are purchasing the items in an as is condition and that they will hold the City of Storm Lake harmless.

Procurement Procedures:

  1. Once notified winning bidders will have to make payment to the City of Storm Lake at Storm Lake City Hall during normal business hours, Monday thru Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM. 

  2. At the time of payment they may schedule a pickup time for items. 

  3. Winning bidders must show a receipt at the pick up site as proof of payment.

  4. All items must be picked up by 5:00PM on Wednesday, November 30, 2005.
