City Hall was originally built in 1924 as a Fire Station, Police Station, and City Offices. In 1978 the Storm Lake Fire Department moved to a new facility at 820 Oneida Street and in 1995 the Storm Lake Police Department moved to their new facility at 401 E. Milwaukee. City Hall underwent a complete remodeling in 1999 which moved the City Council Chambers from the 1st floor to a spacious 2nd floor location. A second story was added to the vestibule in front including a second floor conference room and 1st floor waiting area. To increase customer service and efficiency, all city offices were moved to first floor. The remodeling included a state of the art audio-visual system in the Council Chambers. Which is used to broadcast council meetings over the Local Public Access TV Channel (Channel 3)
